About the firm
About OM Baloyi Inc: attorneys, conveyancers and notaries
A Johannesburg and Pretoria practice built on qualifications that let us finish what we start — in property, notarial work, business, tax and litigation.
OM Baloyi Inc. was founded in 2020 by Oupa Moses Baloyi, an attorney who is also an admitted conveyancer, a notary public, a registered property practitioner and a tax practitioner. That combination is unusual, and it shapes the practice. Rather than handing a property client to another firm for the notarial work, or sending a business client elsewhere for the tax consequences of a transaction, the same office carries the matter through.
What the firm does
We act for individuals buying and selling homes, for developers and township projects, for small and medium businesses, for mining and labour-intensive operations, for artists and influencers, and for people dealing with tax, deceased estates and financial distress.
The work falls into ten practice areas: conveyancing and property law, notarial services, commercial and corporate law, litigation in the High Courts and Magistrates’ Courts, mining law, labour law, taxation law, estates and wills, insolvency and business rescue, and entertainment law.
How we are qualified
Oupa Baloyi holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a National Higher Diploma in Insolvency Practice, a National Higher Diploma in Corporate Law and a Certificate in Commercial Law. He is an admitted attorney and conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa, a notary public, and a registered tax practitioner who files income tax and VAT returns on behalf of individuals and entities.
The firm is joined by Thembi E. Mawelele, an attorney and corporate law and governance specialist with an LLM in Corporate Law and a postgraduate diploma in insolvency law and practice; and by Tebogo M. Brown, an associate director. Our senior paralegal and corporate secretary keep the administrative chain — FICA, filings, records and diaries — tight, because that is what actually decides how quickly a matter moves. How we work
Legal fees and timeframes are explained before we begin. Clients are told what is required of them, in plain language, and are kept informed as a matter progresses. Where a dispute can be resolved by negotiation or mediation rather than a trial, we say so, and where it cannot, we are prepared to litigate.

Our head office is at 51 Bouvet Avenue, Bellairspark Ext 5, Northriding, Johannesburg. We also consult from Regus Pretoria Central at 115 Paul Kruger Street, Pretoria. Both offices can be reached by appointment through our contact page.
